Responsible gaming

Law No. 2020-480 of May 27, 2020 establishing the legal regime for games of chance in Côte d'Ivoire provides for appropriate measures to protect players against gambling addiction, in particular by:

Early identification of at-risk players;

Player self-control, game limitations and game moderation;

The adoption and application of exclusion measures;

Training and development of their employees in responsible gaming;

Collection of data necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the measures taken;

Promoting responsible gaming.

The legal age for participating in games of chance is also set at eighteen years of age. However, only people aged 21 and over can access casinos and slot machine establishments.
Failure to comply with these provisions by the gaming operator is punishable by the penalties provided for by law.
The gaming sector is a sector regulated by the State with regard to the specific risks it entails in terms of preserving public and social order, in particular with regard to the prevention of underage gambling and behavior excessive play.

The fight against underage gambling, which remains a priority for EERUS.CAP, involves supporting the sales network and raising awareness among populations on the one hand, and monitoring and evaluating the application of the ban on the sale of games to minors on the other hand.
